Three days of hibernation inside the house. No kaam. No nothing. Only me, my dabba and the world wide web. (Pongal, erm, vacation)
I called a few people today, you know, just following up on old correspondence on various things. heres the list of people:
1. The kind kenyan lady, who i think went to study in England or something. When asked "How are you, Ma'am - she says, "Oh! Abhilash, Not too bad myself ! Not too bad ! How nice of you to ask! Hows been the New Year ?", had a great chat with her for quite sometime after that. Lets see what comes off that this year.
2. The New Argentinian guy - who has already emailed me 4 times in as many hours asking for this or that. My old Argentinian guy emailed me only 2 times, the whole of last year. This guys a welcome change.
3. Kabir bhai, back in Dhaka. the same old, "yes sir, already done sir. dont know what the delay is sir".
4. The old Argentinian guy. will ditch him for sure if i get the chance.
5. The Costa Rican guy - sure seemed as interested as ever in all that i told him today. what the heck, maybe i can get to go on a business trip to costa rica sometime.
6. The Old Mexican guy - hmm, a boring, lying, lazy specimen.
7. The french speaking, giggly Moroccon lady who was covering for her boss who was out of town
I tried my best to get her spell out her name for me. all i got were a couple of giggles & a few noisy breathing noises, like she was talking on the phone while on a treadmill or something.
8. A New Turkish guy, who responded to all my enthusiatic "Good Afternoon!" and Business Proposals with a sour, "duhh, we dont do that line of business. duhh". Reminded me of Big Moose from Archie Comics.
well, i guess iam atleast a thousand bucks poorer and hopefully all that International calling is making me that much more wiser.
Hey, i almost forgot my Brazilian friend who is the nicest guy of the lot. He even invited me to Brazil this year so that he'll show me around and meet a few customers who might be interested. (heck. il stick to calling for now)
I guess the brave new world will always keep throwing up interesting people, who will continue to provide me with fun opportunities to keep myself occupied, hopefully making myself wiser and richer in the process.
I spent most of this afternoon watching this amazing inning by Sehwag, who is now on i dunno 230* from 220 balls. India are some 350 for No loss with Dravid on some 125 or something. Where is this world coming to?
